BASRALOCUS

Durability 1-2

The heartwood is golden-, rust- or purple-brown in colour, usually with a brown-red glow. It clearly contrasts with the 30-60 mm thick sapwood, which is light grey when fresh and becomes light red-brown after exposure to daylight. Smooth planed, Basralocus naturally has a fairly high lustre. The heartwood is very durable and therefore highly resistant to fungal and insect attack. Basralocus is resistant to pile worm infestation in temperate climates. It is gratefully used in hydraulic engineering, especially in seawater. Basralocus is resistant to acid attack.

APPLICATION: ITS RESISTANCE AND STRENGTH MAKE IT EMINENTLY SUITABLE FOR USE AS PILE AND CONSTRUCTION TIMBER IN HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, SUCH AS FOR FENDERS, JETTIES, LOCK GATES, PURLINS AND GRAYNES. PILES IN HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING ARE USUALLY MADE OF BASRALOCUS. IT IS ALSO EXCELLENT FOR FACADE PANELLING, INTERIOR PANELLING AND FOR PARQUET AND STRIP FLOORS. ITS RESISTANCE TO ACIDS MAKES IT SUITABLE FOR VESSELS FOR ACIDIC LIQUIDS. IT IS ALSO USED FOR FURNITURE

Available in: Furniture, planks, beams, posts (other options on request).

IPE (GROENHART)

Durability 1-2

The heartwood is light to dark olive green, sometimes marked with brown or black stripes. These color differences can occur in one trunk, which sometimes gives Groenhart a colorful appearance.
Groenhart is a type of wood with exceptionally good strength properties.

Due to the high durability, strength and large dimensions in which the wood is available, it is mainly used for heavy construction work (water, bridge and shipbuilding and harbor works). It is also suitable for heavy workbenches and industrial floors. The chemical industry has also had good experiences with Groenhart.

MAHOGANY

Durability 2

Mahogany is a beautiful, solid, soft, tough, moderately strong wood. The heartwood is salmon-colored, pink, red to red-brown, later coloring to deep red or brown with a golden glow. It can be processed well, both with hand tools and by machine. Planing is generally going well.

APPLICATION : Furniture, joinery, hull planking and yacht paneling, paneling, turning, sculpture, knobs and handles, mouldings, veneer, etc.

Sucupira (Makka Kabbes)

Durability 2-3

The brown to dark brown, sometimes brownish-reddish heartwood with fine lighter streaks stands out clearly against the narrow grey-white to yellowish sapwood. The colour becomes somewhat lighter as it dries and is exposed to light and air. The beautifully marked, often slightly streaked wood has a moderate to clear sheen.

APPLICATION: INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR PANELLING, FACADE PANELLING, FURNITURE, STAIRS, (PARQUET) FLOORS, SHIPBUILDING, COACHBUILDING, CARVING, TURNED GOODS, SCULPTURE, KNIFE HANDLES, ETC.

Available in: One-slab table tops, furniture, planks, beams, round timber (other options on request).

TIMBORANA (PIKIN MI SIKI)

Durability 2

The heartwood of Timborana is easily distinguishable from the sapwood. Lighter portions also occur in the wood. The wood has fine markings.
Machining goes well. The planed product becomes beautifully smooth. The veins can take on a golden-yellow glow when treated.

APPLICATION : TIMBORANA IS SUITABLE FOR FACADE CLADDING, FURNITURE, BEAM TIMBER, DECKING AND BENCH BOARDS. DUE TO ITS STRENGTH, THE WOOD IS ALSO USED AS CONSTRUCTION TIMBER.

Available in : One-slab table tops, furniture, planks, beams, round timber, (other options on request).

Cupiuba (Kopie)

Durability : 2

The heartwood is brick-red to yellow-brown, slightly darkening. The sapwood is reddish-brown, sometimes with yellow spots and clearly distinguishable from the heartwood. An unpleasant symptom of copy is that the damp trunk has a strong smell. This odor diminishes after drying. It is easy to saw and an ideal species for construction, water and horticulture.

APPLICATION: MAINLY AS CONSTRUCTION TIMBER IN BRIDGES, HARBOR AND WATERWORKS. IN THE NETHERLANDS, IT IS USED FOR LOCK GATES, BRIDGE DECKS, POST AND CLEAT TIMBER, PURLIN TIMBER AND BULKHEAD BEAMS.
